The Sri Lanka Navy arrested five persons with illegal sea cucumber at Kappaladi, Kalpitiya yesterday.

Navy said the catch of sea cucumber weighing 950 kilograms had been smuggled from India via sea using small fishing trawler and had a street value of Rs. 10 million.

They said the consignment were ready to be transferred ashore at the time of raid.

The arrested persons and the illegal sea cucumber haul were handed over to the Puttalam Fisheries Inspector's Office for legal action.
