The Divineguma Bill was passed at the Eastern Provincial Council a short while ago with a majority of 6 votes. 21 members voted for the bill with 15 voting against.

The UNP and the TNA voted against the bill, with the SLMC, UPFA and the JNP councilors voting for the bill.

The members of the SLMC voted for the bill despite calls from the party secretary Hassen Ali who earlier said that the SLMC would need a weeks time in order to study the bill. (AA)

SLMC has done again. They have supported 18th amendment, and we are still suffering because of that. They have supported this too. They are clearly puppets of the region. The problem is Muslims in the east do not have better option than SLMC and the Hakeem and Co. using that to their own benefits.
