The police have obtained a court order from the Chilaw Magistrate for the funeral of fisherman Anthony Fernando who succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday during clashes, which is to be held today.

The court order says, "The body cannot be used for any propaganda or for any violent activity," Police spokesman SP Ajith Rohana said.

Police have also deployed 1,500 policemen to assist the Army and the elite Special Task Force (STF) in maintaining law and order in the area today. (SD)

As was also the case with the murder of Katunayake boy during protests against the so called private sector pension proposal, this time too the courts issued orders against the common man and not against the murderers. Just imagine what a fine system of justice we have in this country now where murders can be carried out with impunity but protests against such kilings are barred with court orders.
