Another woman killed in Kahawatta
A 66-year-old woman was found dead in her garden in the Warapitiya area in Kahawatta by her son this evening when he came back from work.Police said that she had been slashed to death. She was admitted to the Kahawatta Hospital but had already succumbed to her injuries at the time of admission.
It is the 15th reported death of a woman during the last four years in Kahawatta which had been a hot spot for years with mysterious murders and violence.
She was living in the house with her son for many years. Her son found her dead with severe injuries to her legs.
The police said that so far they have not been able to find the reason behind the death and who was involved but residents say the death is a mystery.
It is believed that she was slashed to death between 11.00am and 3.00pm. According to the residents they had not heard any noise.
Police was informed at around 5.30 pm this evening by the residents. A large number of people gathered around the house where the crime had taken place. (Supun Dias)
