Another 60 refugees who were at refugee camps in South India arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport this afternoon. At least 27 women and 36 men of 27 families who had fled to India during the war were in the group
They are residents of Killinochchi, Mulaitive, Mannar, Trincomalee, Vavuniya and Jaffna.
Meanwhile another 36 men belonging to the group that were deported from Christmas Island within two days also arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport this (BIA) afternoon.
About 196 Sri Lankans have been deported since August 13 after Australia implemented the new Immigration and Emigration regulations.
All the deportees are Sinhalese youths from Beruwala, Chilaw and Hambanthota areas, who had attempted to flee to Australia on board boats from the seas of Beruwala, Dondra and Chillaw. (Deepa Adikari)
