Youth injured during Mirihana protest has not died

Reports circulating that a youth who is undergoing treatment at the Colombo South Teaching Hospital after he was attacked by Police during the protest near the President’s residence in Mirihana has died, is false.

The youth was seen speaking to police and security forces during the protest and it was spread on social media widely.

Police also said that false information was being circulated on social media that a suspect arrested during the protest has died while undergoing treatment.

They said that none of the suspects arrested during protests and who are undergoing treatment at hospitals have died.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)

Thank you, the police and the army. You really helped the cause for the people to rise and chase the Rajapaksas. It was the action of the police and army at Mirihana that woke Sri Lanka. Now no one care about a curfew. This is what is called peoples power. No poles, no swards, no guns, no teargas. It is just the power of unity. Unity is Strength.

It does not matter if someone died or not. Police and security forces used violence against civilians. That is a fact!
