Colombo, Sept. 30 (Daily Mirror) - Jaffna District MP Ramanathan Archuna caused a stir today, saying, “You can call me an idiot, but at least I am not gay.”

Speaking to reporters, he alleged that “lesbians, gays and bisexuals are within the government. Should I spell it out? They are the ones promoting lesbians. Should I name those who are encouraging the lesbian business after visiting the US?”

Referring to the release of controversial containers, he added, “Those involved may have feelings toward the men sitting next to them, but I don’t. That is a mental disease. I can treat them.”

Archuna further stated that he was willing to treat anyone suffering from what he described as sex-related psychological disorders.

In recent days, MP Archuna has been outspoken against the government’s move to promote LGBTQ tourism, a policy that was later reversed by the Tourism Ministry following backlash from various groups.

Archuna, I would call you a naive person rather than an idiot. I respect your stand; but then world is changing and you need to sit back and think "am I on the wrong side on this". You are an educated person; therefore I am sure you will be able to see other side without any problem. Again, you are an educated person and I expect you to bring decency to this parliament.

LGBTQ policy was later reversed by the Tourism Ministry following backlash from various groups. This shows that policies are introduced by the Govt. without proper study on the subject. This type of attitude of "Trial and Error" experiment should be stopped by the Govt. on all matters.
