A public interest litigation filed seeking an order quashing Cabinet Decision approving the electricity tariff revision was today dismissed by the Court of Appeal.
Court of Appeal two-judge-bench comprising Justices Sobhitha Rajakaruna and Dhammika Ganepola decided to dismiss the petition in limine without formally issuing notices on the respondents.
Electricity and Renewable Energy Association and Centre for Environmental Justice had filed this writ petition naming Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL), the Cabinet of Ministers and Attorney General as respondents.(Lakmal Sooriyagoda)

If a unit goes up to 1000 Rs, We would switch to stand alone solar power systems. With the current high interest rates, it is not favorable to invest in home solar power systems.

At least now people should start paying the right cost for the electricity that they consume. Until this culture of giving freebies and subsidiaries is stopped people would keep on expecting more and more for free and take no responsibility for their consumption.

It is so easy to the govt to increase electricity fuel water gas by over hundreds of rupees by gazette. But just 10 Rs. on an egg is a big issue. This is because of the jam in importing eggs even if local producers ruined.
