The Cabinet and the Minister of Power will have to take tough decisions regarding renewable energy and power supply and ensure they do not bring crisis in the future, Minister Namal Rajapaksa said.

He said the President and the Cabinet of Ministers will hold a special meeting today to discuss the prevailing power crisis.

Meanwhile, the minister said that the previous Yahapalana Government only took steps to increase the electricity connections but did not add a single megawatt to the national grid.

“It is a common factor that power outage occurs when electricity is not added to the system and only increasing connections," the Minister said.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
