Watchful visiting Galle Face, Protest site due to rising crimes: Police urge public

Police today urged the public to be more vigilant while frequenting Galle Face Green and "GotaGoGama' protest area due to rising crimes including thefts.

They said the Fort Police have so far received a number of complaints about crimes committed at Galle Face and the protest area during the past two months.

Crimes such as robbing motorcycles, three wheelers, mobile phones and money.

Also, several cases of manhandling and assaults are being reported in the area.

Moreover, an individual was admitted to the hospital last night following a clash at Galle Face.

The Police arrested the suspect who was allegedly involved in the attack.

Police raises doubt that the arrested suspect was a drug addict and the Fort Police are conducting investigations. (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)

It is interesting police receive information about crimes because of Galle Face protest. They never receive complaints of police bribery though it is happening day and night.
