The VAT on private hospitals will be removed from next week, Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera said today.
Preethi Saturday, 16 June 2018 10:44 PM
Your government put that in the first place. What about the VAT paid by patients on all private medical bills for last 2 years?

There were so many enforced disappearances during the prior regime. When you vote them back in, will you want them to bring back the victims to life?

You talk as if it a crime on the part of the state to collect taxes. Now that the fiscal situation is improving the government is trying to loosen the screws and yet idiots like you yammer about even the positive moves.
GENIOUS. Saturday, 16 June 2018 10:38 PM

The removal of tax should benefit the patients not the doctors
karthik Sunday, 17 June 2018 07:42 AM
You all made Retired Private sector employees to pay VAT on medical bills. Remember these people paid PAYE tax when they were in employment and they were cursing you all these time.
MP Sunday, 17 June 2018 07:43 AM
How about what we have already paid? I have paid more than Rs. 50,000/-
Leo Sunday, 17 June 2018 07:44 AM
This is a good decision but the tax on Channeling also should be removed even the poor who wants to get admitted to Govt. Hospital frequently Chanel the doctor privately before seeking govt. treatment so this too effects the poor. Most other people who visit private channeling in most cases may be having medical reimbursement from the organizations they work for and is not a problem but you must think of the Poor masses who do not have these facilities and any other type of insurance coverage for reimbursement. It is a conman practice to see the relevant doctor privately before seeking govt medical treatment.
Bala Sunday, 17 June 2018 11:28 AM
That is an indirect bribe to the doctor to get into a govt hospital quickly.
Citizen Perera Sunday, 17 June 2018 07:57 AM
