Update: Businessman killed in Ambalangoda shooting

A businessman who was injured in a shooting near the Ambalangoda Urban  Council premises this morning (4) has succumbed to his injuries.

Police said the shooting occurred at around 10.30 a.m.

According to initial investigations, a group of suspects arrived in a white car, opened fire, and fled the scene.

The victim, a fishmonger, was admitted to the Balapitiya Hospital following the incident but later died while receiving treatment.

Police investigations have revealed that the victim was the husband of the elder sister of a person known as “Karandeniya Sudda,” a member of an organised crime gang.

Police said that four special police teams have been deployed to investigate the shooting.
