This ambassador is trying hard to ruin the reputation of Boeing co., They'll never consider a country with a shady financial records with bad work ethics as a business partner.

If this happens it will represent a giant leap for Sri Lankan economy and Sri Lankan Science. But both Sri Lanka and America have to guard against definite Indian attempts that would be made to thwart the plan.

This may collapse if our politicians resort to established illegal practices - asking for commissions

    Mandayan Monday, 13 February 2023 01:54 AM

Ambassador, don't give as false hope. There is no investment as long as there are political and economical risks. The politicians who have taken the country on a slippery road are still very active in the background and show no signs of giving up and going away but waiting for a political ambush.

Looks like Julie Chung is been having too close associations with SL politicians. She is having the same uttering nonsense syndrome. She's talking another VW factory.

Allan chapman Monday, 13 February 2023 11:53 AM

Mattala airport could be converted into a aircraft maintenance centre. Since it has its own runway for test flights. The proximity to Hambantota port is good since spare parts could be brought in by sea.

Minor issue, we don't have skilled aircraft technicians. Those present in SL are in tge air force or soon to be bankrupt Srilankan Airlines. Even then insufficient for something like Boeing. Training takes 5 years. We cannot train Pali scholars and Buddhist monks as aircraft technicians.

Dr Lingam , USA Monday, 13 February 2023 09:00 PM

Living in America and working at Boeing in California I feel extremely happy if this project could be put through. There are many Tamils and Sinhalese working at various Boeing research and production lines in the States, so why can’t our country benefit directly from this already established connection. Both the Tamils in the North and the Sinhalese in the South must be able to benefit from this in equal measure. As suggested by an earlier comment Indian “ jealous reaction” can’t be ruled out but with American support Sri Lanka is well protected to withstand and defend against any Indian action.

    Pxx Tuesday, 14 February 2023 04:39 AM

Will you think Boeing will invest if the red wing elected ?

    Ceylonese Tuesday, 14 February 2023 11:05 AM

Without insulting India we should be thanking the Quad which includes India USA Japan and Australia for coming forward to help the poor countries in Asia including Sri Lanka from Chinese influence. with free Covid vaccines etc This investment project with Boeing is part of the proposal.
