UNPers commended my criticism of Rohitha's wedding attendees: Ranjan
State Minister Ranjan Ramanayake yesterday said some prominent members of the UNP had informed that they will back him in the event disciplinary action is taken against him for criticizing the UNPers for attending former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s son Rohitha’s wedding.
“Some prominent UNPers commended me for criticizing the UNPers for attending the wedding and told me that I have come out with something which they could not come out with,” Mr. Ramanayake told journalists this afternoon.
“One cannot understand as to why the ordinary members of political parties should not associate with each other if the party leaders are doing it by attending weddings and parties,” he added.
“If the leaders of political parties get into deals with each other, I don’t see as to why the ordinary members cannot do it,” he also said.
Mr. Ramanayake said one cannot expect to see wrongdoers going behind bars as long as the deals and relationships between the party leaders last. (Yohan Perera)
