Two killed, two hospitalised in shooting at Avissawella

Two persons were killed and two others injured following a shooting incident early this morning in Avissawella, police said.

The shooting targeted four persons travelling in a three-wheeler returning after attending a funeral.

Two persons on a motorcycle had opened fire at the three-wheeler with a T-56 weapon and had fled the scene.

The motive for the shooting has not been revealed yet.

The condition of one of the injured person is critical, hospital sources said.

However, police said the two dead persons are aged 27 and 36, while the injured were admitted to the Avissawella Hospital.
