Two health workers arrested over patient’s death

Two assistant health workers attached to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) in Mulleriyawa have been arrested over the death of a patient at the NIMH recently, Police said.

According to reports, the two health workers had allegedly assaulted the patient, who was said to have suffered from bipolar disorder.

The deceased patient aged 48 years is a resident of Watareka.

Further investigations are being conducted by the Divisional Crime Detective Bureau of the Nugegoda Division.

This is very sad. Further the minor staff in hospitals bent on getting money to look after the patients. These are called tips. This is the trend even in government offices too to move a file. Bribery and corruption everywhere. How can our country prosper?

Is this part of the "Shock treatment" given to patients in Govt. hospitals? Even doctors are part of this team some times, in other forms of treatment. Look at the Removal of both kidneys from a child of 3 1/2 years at the LRH Borella this week. The child finally died.
