Colombo, July 14 (Daily Mirror) - Colombo Additional Magistrate Harshana Kakunawela issued a foreign travel ban on a Sub-Inspector, Walpalage Mahesh Madhusanka attached to the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD).

The order was made following a request by the CCD, which stated that the officer had knowingly shared sensitive investigation-related information with a third party.

The suspect had allegedly leaked details related to serious criminal investigations, including the high-profile murder of Ganemulla Sanjeewa, along with a photograph of the CCD Director, to an outside party. Investigators revealed that this information was uncovered through a forensic analysis of the officer’s mobile phone.

The CCD further informed court that since inquiries into the matter are still ongoing, they sought a travel ban to prevent the officer from leaving the country.
