Trains operating on main line delayed

The Railways Department announced that all trains operating on the main line will be delayed due to a technical failure of the Colombo-bound night mail train from Kankesanturai (KKS) this morning.

The control room said the KKS-Colombo train had stalled between Hindeniya-Pattigoda and Veyangoda stations. The train left KKS at 7 p.m. last evening.

Since the train broke down at 4.30 a.m, other trains operating between Veyangoda and Gampaha were allowed to operate on a single track causing delays to all other trains operating on the main line, the Railways Department said. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
