Thundershowers likely in Uva, Eastern Provinces, Polonnaruwa, Mullaitivu

Thundershowers are expected in the Uva and Eastern Provinces and in the Polonnaruwa and Mullaitivu districts during the evening or night, the Forecasting Division of the National Meteorological Centre said.

Showers will be experienced in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern and North-Western Provinces, as well as in the Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts.

The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Meanwhile, thunderstorms will occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast, extending from Puttalam to Hambantota via Colombo, Galle, and Matara. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
