Colombo, March 22 (Daily Mirror) - In response to the government’s latest increase in petrol prices, three-wheeler associations have formally requested an immediate fare adjustment.
National Joint Three-Wheeler and Industrialists' Association General Secretary L. Rohana Perera said at a media briefing this morning that the rising fuel costs have severely impacted drivers’ ability to operate.
“Fuel prices have been revised again from today. This increase is a big problem for our service. We do not have enough fuel to provide our service, and the government has increased prices. It is like a bull that has bitten a man who fell from a tree,” Perera said.
He added that the association proposes a Rs. 20 increase for the first kilometer fare for all meter-operated three-wheelers.
Perera also announced plans to visit the Presidential Secretariat to present the association’s concerns and seek government support.
