Three-hour power cut trimmed to one hour today

Power cut for today has been reduced to one hour (only in the night) from the normal three hours, due to low demand and resumption of Norochcholai coal power plant, the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) said.

Meanwhile, Power shedding for the coming week will be decided based on the available resources, the PUCSL said.

Hope with the significant tariff increases we're on the way to 24 hours of electricity again. No concessions for business, and they should get higher tariff, so they cut down, as general public now become frugal with their consumption anyway. Business have tax deduction expense for electricity consumption, so much higher rate is must to make them feel the need to be a lot more careful or find alternative means. Business can otherwise have all day AC on because cost is offset against revenue.
