Teen arrested in Nawagattegama over viral reckless riding video

Colombo, March 9 (Daily Mirror) - A 19-year-old youth was arrested by police in Nawagattegama after a video showing reckless motorcycle riding went viral on social media, police said.

According to police, the video showed two youths riding a motorcycle dangerously while obstructing other vehicles on the Nawagattegama–Anamaduwa Road.

Following investigations, officers from the Sri Lanka Police attached to the Nawagattegama Police Station apprehended the rider along with the motorcycle on Sunday (8).

The suspect, a resident of Nawagattegama, was arrested on charges of reckless and dangerous riding, endangering other road users and attempting culpable homicide.

He is scheduled to be produced before the Anamaduwa Magistrate’s Court today (9).

Further investigations are being carried out by Nawagattegama Police.

Well done police. Even uber, pick me motorcycles riders should be arrested. They are reckless on the roads. They have knocked down many pedestrians, causing severe risk for other motorists.
