Colombo, March 25 (Daily Mirror) - A suspect has been arrested in Nittambuwa by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for allegedly overriding the fuel QR code of a woman’s vehicle and fraudulently obtaining fuel by generating a new QR code using the vehicle’s data.
The arrest was made following a complaint lodged by the Digital Economy Ministry based on information received through the 1919 hotline.
Police said the suspect is a resident of Piliyandala.
Further investigations are underway to identify individuals who issued fuel using the illegally generated QR code.
The CID also said that special investigations are ongoing to detect and take action against others involved in similar QR code override activities.
