Colombo, Nov. 4 (Daily Mirror) - State officials should be handled with diligence, especially in a situation where they are not appreciated whenever their actions benefit the country and blamed during other instances where they are blamed when the state suffers losses because of them, UNP Chairman Wajira Abeywardena said today.

He said this with regard to former public servant Charitha Ratwatte, who was arrested and bailed out today.

"Ratwatte has played a leading role in creating and administering the National Youth Council and the Janasaviya programme," he added.

The rule of law is returning to Sri Lanka after corrupted Rajapakse and Wickramasinghe regimes. Pls allow the system change to take place applying rules equally for all, regardless of positions and status. This guy is trying to protect him, it is fine do that through the legal avenues, not via media.

Wajira opened up when a person closer to his bosses is arrested. In the recent past many State officials were arrested, some were remanded but he did not see them or hear about them

Before you advice others go in front of a mirror and look at yourself. This rouge getting together with Senadhipathi of Avan guard fabricated a story against former bribery commissioner Dilrukshi Dias Wickramasinghe and got her removed her from her position. Finally when she challenged the decision in the courts, courts delivered the judgement exonerating her from all the charges saying that the telephone conversation she had with Senadipathi was distorted by the complainant. This is such a disgraceful character.

Some wise words from Wajira. Have been wondering why we have all forgotten all good things that our politicians and officials have done (and their timely decisions) in the past on the nation building projects (Mahaweli, housing, export promotion, efficient Colombo port, ending a civil war, good quality road networks, resurrecting the economy and so on), but giving way to a narrow attitude of punishing everyone who did not agree with the government in power!
