State ceremony of the “Walk for Peace” to be held tomorrow in Colombo

Colombo, April 27 (Daily Mirror) - The state ceremony of the “Walk for Peace” programme is scheduled to be held tomorrow (28) at 4.00 p.m. at Independence Square under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

As part of the ceremony, the President is expected to present sacred relics and a sapling of the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi to Venerable Pannakara Thero and the accompanying delegation from Vietnam.

The ongoing walk, which is now in its seventh day, commenced this morning from the Abeysekararama Temple and is scheduled to conclude for the day at the Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara.

The programme began on April 21 from the Dambulla Rajamaha Viharaya and is being led by Venerable Pannakara Thero along with a 13-member delegation of Vietnamese monks.

Following the state ceremony, the walk will resume at 5.30 p.m. and is expected to conclude at the Gangaramaya Temple at 7.00 p.m., marking the end of the campaign.
