Special tax on maize reduced only for Triposha manufacturing companies: Siyambalapitiya

The special import levy imposed on maize was reduced only for Triposha manufacturing companies, Finance State Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said.

Accordingly, the import levy on maize was reduced from Rs. 75 to Rs. 25 per kilogram.

While addressing a meeting in the Thalduwa area in Awissawella this morning, he said the import levy reduction will not be valid for other maize imports.

The tax reduction was imposed with effect from 18 May (Thursday), the State Minister said.

He also said that this tax can be re-imposed at any time after importing enough maize for the production of Triphosha. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
