Special committee appointed to tackle water shortage

Colombo, April 2 (Daily Mirror) - A special operations committee has been appointed by the National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) to monitor and manage the prevailing drinking water shortage amid ongoing dry weather conditions.

The committee has been established under the direction of the Chairman and the General Manager of the NWSDB, with the aim of effectively managing rapidly depleting water sources and the resulting limitations in production capacity.

Comprising relevant subject officials, the committee will oversee and regulate water production and distribution while closely monitoring the situation across affected areas.

It is also tasked with continuously assessing issues related to water sources, production capacity and supply patterns, and conducting daily and weekly reviews within identified timeframes
