The Soft Liquor Licences (beer, wine, etc.) given to establishments registered with the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) have been temporarily suspended with immediate effect, following an order given by the Court of Appeal, the Excise Department announced today.

Parliament should pass necessary laws so that this kind of temporary suspension issues will not arise. This kind of this will hamper anyone with such business. Foolish decision when country is trying to promote tourism and increase revenue. RW should look in to this matter. Probably time to update legal sector with people who have common sense and brain.

Seems like the existing wine shops didn't like and went to courts against the SLTDA decision. How funny, most wine shops are owned by politicians who do not adhere to the country rules, but those same politicians used their money to get the support of the courts to prevent their business income to erode.
