Showers, strong winds expected during the day

Colombo, October 25 (Daily Mirror) - The Meteorology Department has issued a weather warning, forecasting showers or thundershowers at times over Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Northwestern, Northern, and North Central provinces, as well as in Galle, Matara, and Trincomalee districts.

Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 75 mm is likely at some locations within these areas. Showers or thundershowers are expected to develop elsewhere across the island after 1.00 p.m.

Strong winds reaching 40–50 kmph are also expected at times over the Western slopes of the central hills, and in Western, Northern, North-central, North-western, and Southern provinces, as well as in Trincomalee district.

The public has been advised to take necessary precautions to minimize potential damage caused by localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
