The shortage of medicines in Sri Lanka will end in two weeks, Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella informed Parliament today.
The Minister said the Ministry has been able to purchase 81 out of 151 medicines which were in shortage by last Thursday.
“The Finance Ministry has given priority to the health sector when it comes to state spending after allocating funds for salaries and pensions,” he said.
“There is no truth in halting of surgeries in state hospital as all emergency surgeries are being carried out while non emergency operations such as hernia operations have been postponed. (Yohan Perera and Ajith Siriwardana)

Potential signs of inevitable LG polls. Anyway, no one can rob votes yet again by sudden medicine purchases or reducing the price of a loaf of bread.

What about the private 'deal' you tried to broker with Indian pharmaceutical companies?

Mr. Gamlath, Don't you agree that Sri Lanka is inching towards semi-normalcy after months of worst-ever economic crisis. Whether LG polls are scheduled or not the Government in power has to perform the basics. Please do not relate everything to politics. Unfortunately it has become a hobby to many. Let us vote to anyone of our choice but wish that our country to come out of this crisis ASAP

Encouraging news, trust duly approved drugs by the pharmacology department would be purchased, no doubt one can buy from India, since, they have unlimited manufacturers who produce standard drugs, our health minister should encourage Indian drug manufacturers to have their manufacturing factories in Sri Lank as well, our pharmaceutical manufacturing corporation should coordinate with world suppliers suppliers to have their manufacturers plants in Sri Lanka as well.

After the Indian trip. His bank balance must be extremely hefty these days. BTW, can the CEB officially inform us " Electricity bill paying citizens" if the "Hon" Keheliya has paid his outstanding Electricity bill ??????
