Shooting in Kotahena linked to underworld rivalry

Police suspect that underworld rivalry was the motive behind a fatal shooting reported in the 16th Lane area of Kotahena, in which a 43-year-old man was killed last night.

According to the Police, a group arrived in a black car carried out the shooting before fleeing the scene. CCTV footage showed one suspect exiting the vehicle and firing at the victim from behind.

The victim, a resident of Kotahena, succumbed to his injuries after being admitted to the Colombo National Hospital.

Investigations have revealed that the deceased was an accomplce of organized criminal Pushparaja, also known as Pukudukanna. Police believe the attack was carried out by members of a rival faction linked to underworld figure 'Palani Remotion'.
