Colombo, September 27 (Daily Mirror) -The Health and Mass Media Ministry yesterday officially received seven double cabs for use in preventive health services under the Health Systems Improvement Project, funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Each vehicle is valued at Rs. 22 million.
Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa handed over the vehicles at a ceremony held at the Ministry premises. The cabs were allocated to the Medical Officers of Health (MOH) offices in Warallagama and Gangawata Korale (Kandy District), Horowpathana (Anuradhapura District), Mahiyangana and Bandarawela (Badulla District), Nivitigala (Ratnapura District), and the Colombo Project Management Unit.
The Health Systems Improvement Project had earlier procured 45 vehicles to strengthen preventive health services in the Central, North Central, Uva and Sabaragamuwa provinces. Of these, 38 cabs were distributed in January 2022, while the remaining seven were handed over yesterday.
Secretary to the Ministry Specialist Dr. Anil Jasinghe, Additional Secretaries Chamika Gamage, Sunil Galagama and Janaka Kithsiri Gunawardena, Deputy Director General Dinipriya Herath, Director (Transport) Nilanga Dilhan Somapala, ADB Health Systems Improvement Project Director in Sri Lanka Dr. Anil Dissanayake, and other ministry officials were present at the event.
