Sajith vows SJB’s support to Government, calls for end to political games

The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has pledged its support to the government if it ceases all political games and genuinely works towards the betterment of the nation, according to Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa.

"The country is in a crisis situation. We are facing a prolonged drought, approximately 5,000 school teachers have left the island, and a significant number of doctors have migrated. This country requires a comprehensive national plan. We need new irrigation projects to maximize the utilization of water that flows into the sea. The SJB is prepared to offer its expertise and support to the government if it acts in good faith," stated Mr Premadasa in a special statement.

"We are ready to assist the government in implementing a national plan that addresses the challenges faced by our nation. However, we request that the government refrain from engaging in political games. We will not support the government if it continues to prioritize political gamesmanship and the pursuit of ministerial portfolios," he added.

Meanwhile, SJB National Organizer Tissa Attanayake, addressing a public gathering, mentioned that the support provided by the SJB to the government would be temporary.

"We may have to support President Ranil Wickremesinghe and the government in the near future, but it will only be for a short period," he said. (Yohan Perera)

Sajith is not a capable guy to oust Ranil from the UNP and take control of the UNP. Many ex UNP ers who are with him will leave the SJB and join Ranil in the coming months. This he knows very well and to avoid isolation he will come up various statements to secure his position.

This is the only way to Sajith to survive in politics rather than sitting in the opposition and playing games. Yes, his original plan is to join with Ranil and to be his assistant as he knows most of the SJB guys have already signed secret agreements with Ranil.
