Sajith not ready for Presidential debate hosted by Daily Mirror?

Colombo, April 09 (Daily Mirror) - The participation of Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa for a Presidential debate together with President Ranil Wickremesinghe and NPP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake hosted by the Daily Mirror is uncertain with SJB Manager Nalin Banadara Jayamaha stating that it is unbelievable that Dissanayake has agreed to it.

"It is unbelievable that Dissanayake has agreed for a debate with the President and Mr. Premadasa after declining to accept the challenge thrown at him by us, and agreeing for the debate with Mr. Premadasa and President Wickremesinghe.

"We are ready for the debate which was suggested by us. Then the economic experts of both parties could have their debate," he added.

Meanwhile Mr. Premadasa told a public meeting in the North-Western Province that the most important way for a political leader is to compete with his rivals to carry out development work in a competitive way."

"You can debate, assissinate one's character or carry out development work in a competitive manner. However, the best way is to carry out various development work while competing with each other," he said.

The Daily Mirror and the Lankadeepa had invited President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa and NPP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake for a political debate.

Absolutely. From the comments below, very obvious he’s not a popular choice of the majority. It’s better those in his party who sincerely want to do clean politics to improve the living standards should join up together and leave. Either team up with another party with strong leadership and qualities or set up a “Professional Action Party”. This party should be having younger professionals with a minimum of a degree and not been in politics for more than 10 years. Remember, those responsible for the economic crisis have been in politics for more than 10 years.

Sajith was NEVER confident. When the Presidency was offered to him by Gotabaya Rajapakse he declined it. But when it was offered to Ramil Wickremasinghe he came running for it and gave various excuses why he declined. Again excuses why cannot come for debate. I am sure if the debate goes without him he will then should why he was left out similar to his behaviour when the Presidency was offered. He is not a leader. They are all like former failed presidents who came only for their benefits having the job such as getting a free house, huge pension etc.

I doubt Nalin Bandara deliberately trying to trap SP by sending him to debate with AKD, if Nalin watches TV programs,where Dr. Nalinda, Nalin Hewage representing NPP, he never suggests his leader to this suicidal mission, in my case I really interested in politicians pension issue,which is very sensitive issue for floating voters,but NPP already coming with very straightforward answer, but SJB so far has not
