Parliament, April 26 (Daily Mirror)- Refuting reports that Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa avoided meeting visiting Iranian President Dr. Ebrahim Raisi, SJB MP Nalin Bandara said today that Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa did not get an appointment from the Iranian Embassy to meet the Iranian President.
He told Parliament that Sajith Premadasa did not attend the dinner with the Iranian President hosted by President Ranil Wickremesinghe as he never attends dinners hosted by President Wickremesinghe.
"I must correct the incorrect reports claiming that the Samagi Jana Balawegaya did not meet the Iranian President. Our leader did not get the appointment from the Iranian Embassy to meet the Iranian President. We did not attend the dinner as Sajith Premadasa never attends dinners hosted by Ranil Wickremesinghe," he said.

At least Sajith has integrity in this regard. He does not need to attend his opponent's parties. No opposition leader does that. He certainly does not have to be seen with the Iranian leader, a leadership who is the enemy of the world, and a war monger who runs his country with draconian laws and human rights abuses. But they help build a dam and Sri Lanka gives up their soul. In only a matter of time, we will see Sri Lanka fall into another trap like the debt trap of China. This time it could be that Sri Lanka would be used as a strategic location for wars. Mattala is given to India and Russia to manage. China owns much of the territory. Now Iran has made its move. Sajith should speak up.

What a little man this sajith is. He doesn’t attend dinners hosted by the head of state! He doesn’t get an appointment, because he is not that important as world leaders have limited time and they will meet the most important and complete the most important assignments. And if the head of state invites to an event that the head of state hosts a world leader, the least an opposition leader must do is to participate. It’s not about Ranil or sajith, it’s the office of the head of state and the office of the leader of the opposition leader. This childish behaviour shows this one is incompetent to be a legislator let alone an opposition leader. Shameless bugger.

The fact is that the Iranian president was on a very tight itinerary and kept the visit strictly official. He did not meet individuals, groups and other parties during his visit. It could have been for security reasons. To accommodate his tight schedule some persons were invited to a dinner hosted for him. This would have been the opportunity for those who could not be otherwise accommodated. SP chose to through a tantrum and not attend. Too bad for silly little self-pitying him.
