SLPP issues stern warning to Thisakutti Arachchi

Colombo, Sep 24 (Daily Mirror) - Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam has issued a stern warning to former Member of Parliament Thisakutti Arachchi, urging him to refrain from making irresponsible and controversial statements at public meetings.

The move comes in the wake of recent remarks made by Thisakutti Arachchi, which have sparked significant concern within the party ranks, leading to a strong internal response from the party hierarchy.

Speaking to media, Thisakutti Arachchi described himself as one of Rajapaksa’s closest allies and asserted that momentum is already gathering for Rajapaksa to secure the presidency in 2029.

I was under the impression that under Sri Lanka's present constitution, a person (whoever it may be) can only serve as President for 02 terms. Hence, for Mahinda Rajapaksa to contest and win 2029 as stated above, the constitution has to be changed. Correct me, if am wrong!
