Russian Health Minister to arrive in Sri Lanka



April 29 (Daily Mirror) - Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka on May 3 for a three-day official visit to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the health sector.

During the visit, the Russian delegation will hold official talks with Health and Mass Media Minister Nalinda Jayatissa on enhancing collaboration between Russia and Sri Lanka in areas such as pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, specialist training, and academic cooperation.

The delegation is also expected to meet Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Minister Vijitha Herath for discussions on broader bilateral engagement.

On May 4, Murashko and his delegation will visit the National Hospital of Sri Lanka in Colombo as well as the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Colombo, where they are expected to explore opportunities for academic exchange programmes, joint courses, and training initiatives.

The visit will also include discussions with representatives from Sri Lanka’s health sector, focusing on Ayurveda, health tourism, and advanced medical training, while both sides are expected to work towards new understandings between the two countries’ health ministries.

The Russian Health Minister and his delegation are scheduled to depart Sri Lanka on May 5.
