Rs. 1,000 million allocated for new drinking water projects



Colombo, Nov. 7 (Daily Mirror) - The government has allocated Rs. 1,000 million to address urban and rural drinking water needs across the country.

The funds will be used to construct a new water supply system in Ambatale to meet the growing urban demand in the Colombo District, and to upgrade and provide new water supply facilities in Kolonnawa and Nugegoda-Jubilee Post.

In addition, a new water project will be constructed in Lunugamvehera, Hambantota District, aimed at supplying drinking water to communities affected by water scarcity and supporting the development of production-oriented industries in the region.

These initiatives form part of the government’s ongoing efforts to ensure safe and reliable water supply while promoting economic development in affected areas.
