Road accident leaves one dead, two critically wounded

A 33-year person had died and two others were seriously injured when a bus and a lorry crashed head on at the Samudra Mawatha in Galle on the Galle-Matara Main Road this morning.

Police said the bus crashed against the lorry which was transporting newspapers when the bus driver tried to overtake another vehicle.

The driver of the bus died in the accident while the driver and the helper of the lorry were admitted to the Karapitiya Hospital.

The deceased was a resident of Nagoda while the injured are from Miniwangoda.

Police said no injuries were reported to the passengers on board the bus. (DSB)
