The request by police for a restraining order preventing the commemoration of LTTE cadre 'Thileepan' was rejected by the Vavuniya magistrate’s court. He was to be commemorated today (20) for the 36th year.
Vaviniya police moved that the commemoration of 'Thileepan' which included a demonstration along with a motorcade to Vavuniya town today was liable to result in a breach of peace.
The court rejected the request of the police and held that anyone had the right to commemorate the dead, but legal action should be taken against any breaches of law and order.

One cannot fault the judge on his findings, but one wonders what positive purpose does this commemoration processions serve in achieving the rights and interests of Tamils of the NE.

Thileepan died thro Ahimasa, demanding the implementation of the Accord JR signed with the then PM Rajiv Gandhi. He does not belong to any banned organisation. So why all these troubles, physical attacks on and elected MP in Trinco male, in the east and south Sri Lanka? Lack of knowledge!
