Rajitha Senaratne directed to appear before court under Section 60(1) notice

Colombo, August 20 (Daily Mirror) - Colombo Chief Magistrate Thanuja Lakmali Jayathunga today ordered the Bribery Commission to publish a written proclamation on former Minister Rajitha Senaratne, who is alleged to be evading court, directing him to appear before court on August 29 under Section 60(1) of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

The order was issued following a motion filed before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court by the investigating officer and the Assistant Director of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, seeking such a directive.

The motion was filed under Section 60(1) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, requesting that the suspect be compelled to provide a statement to the Bribery Commission on a specified date.
