Mid-level atmospheric disturbances will bring more intense rains in most parts of the country, according to the Meteorological Department.

Fairly heavy showers above 75mm are likely at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Eastern and Northern Provinces and in the Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts.

Besides, showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-Western, Southern, Northern and Eastern Provinces while fairly heavy showers above 50 mm are also likely at some places.

Meanwhile, strong winds of about 40-50 kmph can be expected at times over the Western and Southern coastal areas.

Hence, the public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
