Colombo, October 18 (Daily Mirror) - The Women's Cricket World Cup encounter of Pakistan v New Zealand, hit by rain, resumed a short while ago at R. Premadasa Stadium

At resumption, this was reduced to 46 overs a side.

Many matches have been severely hampered by rain, with at least one match by co-hosts Sri Lanka completely abandoned

I just can't believe that our local officials have no common sense to schedule world cup matches in Sri Lanka during the of October knowing it's the monsoon season. None of the matches that were played so far had a full game while two or three were totally washed off.

If one sees the points table India is sitting 4th and NZ 5th with 2 washed out games. Most likely India will qualify for semis. I doubt ICC didn't know of SL weather.

This is not the first time ,whenever international crickets are held specially in Colombo, rain washout the games.This results in effecting the points of winning team whoever. Since this is regularly happening in Sri Lanka the games should be shifted to the regions where there is no rain.The new Govt.should look into this shortcoming.

Colombo has ruined the world cup and Sri Lanka's chsnces ( if there was any). Are our cricket officials moron's, to organize these knowing its the monsoon period?

The new Govt. should concentrate and study the climate pattern of SL so that some matches could be shifted out of Western Province. These are important matches getting each side one point due to rain is ridiculous.

I am perplexed, when the seasonal rains come down, despite knowing this the officials schedule matches,this in non other than greediness,on obtaining the required funds for disbursements,The government should take a firm stand on this,its a shame because all the teams are not able to perform and obtain the correct points to proceed
