Due to trade union actions, a total of 118 scheduled train services were cancelled, causing inconvenience to the public, the Sri Lanka Railways Station Masters' Union (SLRSMU) said.
They said a total of eleven scheduled train services were cancelled yesterday (11) due to several hours of trade union action launched by the Railway Locomotive Operating Engineers’ Union.
However, the Railway Department had taken steps to operate several train services today during the ongoing strike.
Accordingly, four trains were operated on the Kelani Valley line, and 12 trains operated on the mainline. Six train services operated on the Puttalam line and 12 on the coastal line.
Meanwhile, the Railway Department announced that all arrangements have been made to operate all night mail trains today. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
