Questioning former First Lady gives rise to more issues: UNP

Colombo, April 24 (Daily Mirror) - The questioning of former First Lady Professor Maithree Wickremesimghe by the CID has given rise to many issues including health risks, a senior figure of the United National Party (UNP) said today.

"Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe has returned just after his heart surgery. He has been asked not to receive visitors. Even his political friends and colleagues have refrained from visiting him. Besides Professor Wickremesinghe herself has been suffering from a long illness. We are saddened by the questioning despite this difficult situation," UNP Chairman Wajira Abeywardena said in a statement.

The questioning of Professor Wickremwsinghe has begun at around 9am and had ended at 1 pm.

The Daily Mirror reliably learnt that the questioning has been targeted to cover up a host of other issues which the government is currently facing.

Ranil only underwent heart surgery and that was also a few weeks back. Does Vajira expects for Ranil to be discharged from the case? The law must be applied to big guns the same way it is applied to others. Some allowance was made and the questioning took place at home. What is the issue?

When found guilty people become sick and so many ailments and unable to attend anything. We see the double standard of the law in Sri Lanka very clearly now. The poor and middle class will be dragged away by the CID for interrogation but the rich and elite they come to the house. What discrimination.

Yes , Let us question all the people in Sri Lanka, 23 Miilion, as suggested by this guy , keeping to true democratic traditions so that all or any problems, issues, like why the CID did not inquire , without the sanction/notification to theAG or from directly from the University it self but sent 5 guys on a fruitless visit to the UK, so that such matters will be "spread all round
