Colombo, June 22 (Daily Mirror) - Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama today fixed October 17 to deliver judgment in the case concerning the alleged forcible removal of the crown from Pushpika de Silva, the winner of the Mrs. Sri Lanka 2021 pageant, causing her injuries.
The suspects are former Mrs. World titleholder Caroline Jurie and fashion designer Chula Padmendra.
When the case was taken up today before the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court, the Magistrate informed court that the judgment would be delivered on the next hearing date, October 17.
According to the prosecution, the incident occurred in 2021 during the grand finale of the Mrs. World Sri Lanka pageant held at the Nelum Pokuna Theatre, where Pushpika de Silva had just been crowned the winner. It is alleged that the two accused entered the stage, assaulted her and forcibly removed her crown.
The court was informed that the recording and examination of evidence had been concluded on previous hearing dates and the case is now fixed for judgment.
