Public transport will be given priority on fuel distribution: Kanchana
After the discussions held at the Power and Energy Ministry today, it was decided to initiate the process of fuel distribution giving priority to public transport, Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said.
The discussion held with Transport Minister Bandula Gunawardane, Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera and several other officials and heads of subsidiaries.
During the discussion, it was decided to provide fuel from the closest Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) depots and designated filling stations for buses with route permits, the Ministry said.
It was also decided to provide a fuel quota for licensed and public transport buses in the future based on the number of buses run by the transport regulatory agencies. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
