Public to be invited to name new lion cubs

Colombo, April 30 (Daily Mirror) - Allowing children to suggest names for two newborn lion cubs, the Dehiwala Zoological Gardens has invited the public to visit and witness the young animals.

Director General Chandana Rajapaksha said the cubs, a male and a female, were born on December 24.

He said the four-month-old cubs will be open for public viewing daily between 10.00 a.m. and 11.30 a.m.

“The two cubs are active and playful, and visitors will have the opportunity to observe them during this designated time,” he said.

The Department said children can submit name suggestions starting next week, with the process continuing for two weeks.

Prizes will be awarded to winners who attend the naming ceremony, the Director General added.
