An international probe into the Channel 4 allegations on the Easter Sunday attacks is a must while select Commitees will not serve any purpose, Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka told Parliament.

"The Government must agree to conduct an international probe," he said.

"I belive that Suresh Sally is involved in the Easter Sunday attacks. He is someone who washed the toilets of the Rajapaksas. He was also involved in bomb attacks way back in 2019," he added. (Yohan Perera and Ajirh Siriwardana)

Field Marshal, Ranil Wickremasinge as well, have faced direct and indirect consequences of senerios similar to channel 4, revelations, an international probe is requested by cardinal Ranjith Malcom Fernando opposition leader Sajith, war hero Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka, civil society and many others; hence hasten an international probe to clear the doubt to the nation.

    Sokrates Thursday, 07 September 2023 03:38 PM

The Field Marshal is a shining example how loyalty to the ruling crooks is paying off. It is unfortunate that today he is without powerful influence to bring the murderous Rajapaksa clan and their henchmen to justice.

The call for an international independent probe will as usual fall on deaf ears. Interested parties will never want to open cans of worms for they will stand exposed. But someone somehow has to initiate one for the sake of justice.

Harak Fonseka was the first to make the white flag allegations for political gains. He forgets that he was the commander of the army alleged to have committed crimes.

We do not want any select committee from SL.

    Good

No international probe when those in power are involved

    Terrence K Thursday, 07 September 2023 05:12 PM

Gen Fonseka can play a major role to colloborate the findings of an International investigation as to how the Rajapakse clan got rid of their opponents which will help to smoke out the devilish culprits from their comfort zones

Sivalingam, it was all started by Mee-Harak Tamil politicians and Parippuhan. Gen. Fonseka is regarded as a superb military leader by independent authorities.

I have commented on Channel 4 elsewhere and need not repeat myself here! I share the opinion of Sarath Fonseka, one of the few honorable and trustworthy people from the terror war era who experienced the Rajapaksas and their immediate criminality first hand, according to international investigation !!! This is the only way the "truth" can be clarified for the sake of justice!!!

There are two options: Option 1: Take Channel 4 to independent overseas courts and see how truth is divulged. Option 2: Set up an independent overseas committee perhaps via Human Rights and see what comes out of this investigation. Please do not bother to set up and waste poor mans time and money on local investigation committees.

This incident cannot be an isolated spontaneous incident devoid of meticulous planning. There’s no way forward for SL to progress without exposing the perpetrators. An impartial inquiry conducted by unbiased and open minded investigators, for sure could deliver the goods provided they are ready to dig in deep.

Do we have white wash corrupt murderers? Friday, 08 September 2023 08:31 AM

Does Lanka has unlimited wealth, to spend for all international and local probes into every allegation that come up against corrupt ex rulers? Nothing is free today! Let the individuals defend themselves to clear their names, and the nation can face UN if necessary. Any probe now will only white wash all former rulers, who cannot face the Aragalaya results. Do we have to give them a stage for power?

Sivalingam - I will be surprised if you tell me that you are not a sympathizer of LTTE!!

Palitha DS Friday, 08 September 2023 06:39 PM

The countries who lost citizens should formally push for a case before the International Criminal Court in The Hague. There is a straightforward path forward. Sri Lanka is not like Russia and has zero bargaining power before the international community as a whole. The ICC has dealt with far bigger problems and criminals before. This would however negatively affect the image of the country. Ranil should therefore initiate an international investigation himself and dharma, justice, must be done and must be seen to be done. Ranil can be a modern day Dharmapala if he has the courage and principles.
