Principal, Vice Principal arrested over concealing sexual abuse of a schoolgirl by a schoolboy

June 20 (Daily Mirror) - The Principal, the Vice Principal of Ambalantota Therapuththa National School and a schoolboy of another school were arrested yesterday in connection with the grave sexual abuse of a schoolgirl during the sports meet of the school on May 21.

HQI Ambalantota Police CI Amila Rajapakse said the three suspects were arrested following a complaint received by the National Child Protection Authority.

The Principal and the Vice Principal had been arrested on suspicion of concealing the incident. The schoolgirl was admitted to hospital for medical examination.

The HQI said the three suspects would be produced before the Hambantota Magistrate and that several others involved in the incident would be arrested soon. Investigations revealed that the incident .had been video recorded with mobile phones and shared on social media.

Ambalantota Police are conducting further investigations.
